Integrated Data Usability
-

Problem statement
Documentation pertaining to nationally significant integrated government administrative data assets is limited, inconsistent, and difficult to navigate. As a result, data assets are underutilised and data analysis processes inefficient, constraining timely research with national policy significance.
-

SSRIN response
This project component significantly improves metadata content and metadata accessibility for users of one of the most important integrated administrative data assets available for social researchers in Australia - the Person Level Integrated Data Asset (PLIDA).
The project will also develop a scale-able model for documenting and improving documentation of other integrated administrative data assets.
-

Intended longer-term outcomes
Increased efficiency and effectiveness in data discovery of an expanding key data asset in Australia leading to more relevant research applications that strengthen the evidence base in areas vital to Australia’s future.
Improved metadata systems for other administrative data assets leading to better utilsations of those data.
